Alexander began his legal career in Ottawa articling for a civil litigation firm in the downtown core where he gained meaningful experience including acting as second chair in a wrongful death trial. Alex was then hired as an associate in a plaintiff-side personal injury law firm for one year before relocating to Toronto, where he practiced insurance-side litigation for an additional two and a half years. Alex eagerly returned to Ottawa to join McCague Borlack LLP to continue to build and expand upon his practice.
Alex has appeared numerous times before the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, and the License Appeal Tribunal. He has successfully argued for summary judgment and has drafted submissions for the Divisional Court of Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada. He enjoys finding efficient and sometimes novel solutions to his client’s problems, reaching agreement when appropriate and fearlessly advocating for his client’s interests when necessary.
When not working, Alexander is an avid traveller and photographer. He enjoys camping, hiking, cycling, and beach volleyball in the warmer months, and downhill skiing and curling in the winter.
